The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for a game against the Washington Commanders, marking their third meeting since 2019 and fourth since 2015.

The Buffalo Bills, with a 1-1 record, are about to confront an unfamiliar quarterback, second-year pro Sam Howell, who is currently in his debut season as the starting QB.

The Bills' defense demonstrated strength in the first two games, effectively shutting down the Raiders and showing resilience against the Jets while allowing only one  80-yard run.

In a surprising development, Christian Kirksey, a veteran middle linebacker, has decided to retire after a 10-year career, leaving the Bills with Terrel Bernard and Tyrel Dodson as their middle linebackers.

The Bills plan to re-sign A.J. Klein to the practice squad due to Kirksey's retirement, providing valuable veteran experience behind Bernard.

Kirksey's retirement comes as the second abrupt retirement for the Bills in recent weeks, following offensive tackle Brandon Shell's retirement in August.
