Chiefs Urged to Consider Carson Wentz as Backup

The Kansas City Chiefs have been fortunate with Patrick Mahomes as their quarterback. 

Backup quarterbacks are crucial, as seen with the San Francisco 49ers relying on Brock Purdy when their starters were injured. 

Chad Henne served as the Chiefs' backup for four years before retiring, leaving a void. 

The Chiefs signed Blaine Gabbert from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a replacement. 

Vincent Frank of Sportsnaut suggests the Chiefs should target veteran free agent Carson Wentz

Wentz, while not a QB1, has shown the ability to keep an offense afloat. 

Wentz spent last season with the Washington Commanders and 2021 with the Indianapolis Colts. 

If signed, Wentz could offer the Chiefs a higher-upside backup option compared to Gabbert.
