According to head coach Kyle Shanahan, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers Trey Lance (ankle) is done for the year. During the Week 2 game against the Seahawks, the quarterback shattered his ankle and had to be helped off the field. It’s a hard blow for the 22-year-old, who was highly anticipated going into the 2022–23 season. He will have surgery on Monday, thus the Niners will instead turn to veteran Jimmy Garoppolo to take over at quarterback for the rest of the season. Garoppolo has always been inconsistent, so fantasy managers shouldn’t count on him to put up regular numbers. However, Garoppolo might be an improvement given Lance wasn’t playing all that great.
