Second ankle surgery for quarterback Trey Lance

By Babita Singh

Trey Lance had a second surgery on his right ankle  on Friday.

The surgery was to remove hardware that had been implanted during his initial surgery in September.

Lance experienced soreness in the area due to the hardware's proximity to an ankle tendon.

The successful surgery resulted in the removal of the hardware, which required the QB to use crutches for the next two weeks.

Lance is still anticipating to fully recover in time for the May OTAs.

Lance has been placed on injured reserve after sustaining injury in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks.

American football quarterback Trey Lance plays for the National Football League's San Francisco 49ers (NFL).

Lance, who was selected by the 49ers in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, spent the most of his first season as a backup.

In 2022, Lance was designated the starter, but an injury ended his campaign early.
